Silica Gel SG5 - this highly effective, reusable silica gel with 3-5 mm diameter beads ensures optimal conditions for storing your filaments. More

Manufacturer: TraivaProduct code: 4835 Shipping and Payment

Silica Gel SG5 is a highly effective desiccant that offers an optimal solution for keeping 3D printing filaments in perfect condition. This transparent silica gel with 99.5% SiO2 purity is an ideal choice for 3D printing users who want to maximize the lifespan and quality of their materials.

Key Features

  • Beads with a diameter of 3-5 mm
  • Active surface area of 800 m2/g
  • Adsorption up to 36% of its weight at 90% relative humidity capacity
  • Reusable due to easy regeneration

Use in 3D Printing

Filament Protection

Silica Gel SG5 is an indispensable helper for filament storage. Placing this desiccant in filament boxes improves the surrounding humidity, thereby:

  • Extending the lifespan of filaments
  • Preventing moisture absorption by the material
  • Improving print quality

Compatibility with AMS Bambulab

This silica gel is an ideal choice for use in the AMS (Automatic Material System) from Bambulab. Its optimal bead size ensures efficient air circulation and maximum moisture absorption in the closed environment of the AMS.

Technical Parameters

  • Bulk density: 620 - 700 g/l
  • pH: 4-6
  • Pore diameter: 2.0-3.0 nm
  • Pore volume: 0.35-0.45 ml/g
  • Thermal conductivity: 0.63 KJ/m.hr

Regeneration and Reuse

Silica Gel SG5 can be easily regenerated, making it an economical and ecological choice for long-term use.

In an Electric or Gas Oven

  • Optimal temperature: 120-160°C
  • Regeneration time: Depends on the amount of silica gel

Procedure

  • Water evaporation from silica gel occurs at temperatures above 110°C. Complete regeneration is indicated when no more steam rises from the silica gel.

In a Microwave Oven

  • Power: 600W
  • Time: Approximately 3 minutes per 100 g of wet silica gel

Procedure

  • The container must be heat-resistant up to 200°C and must not be metal or plastic (preferably heat-resistant glass or ceramic).
  • Allow approximately 3 minutes for every 100 g of wet silica gel.
  • Then visually check if steam is still being produced. Continue only if steam is being produced.
  • If you continue when no more steam is produced, the silica gel can heat up to 240°C, start to crack, and the container may also crack due to the heat.
  • If you use silica gel with an indicator, it will turn orange only after cooling down.

Tip: Let the silica gel cool down before using it again after regeneration.

Packaging and Weight

  • Net weight: 800 g ± 5 g
  • Weight including packaging: 890 g ± 5 g
