Soluble support materials

Soluble support materials are special filaments designed for 3D printing that serve as temporary supports for complex geometries and prints with overhangs. These materials dissolve in water or other chemical solutions, allowing for easy removal of support structures without damaging the main print.

The main advantages of soluble support materials include:

  • Easy removal: Supports can be easily removed after printing is complete.
  • High compatibility: Many soluble materials are compatible with common filaments such as PLA, ABS or PETG.
  • Improved print quality: They help achieve cleaner and more precise prints.

The most commonly used soluble materials include PVA (polyvinyl alcohol) and HIPS (high-impact polystyrene).

When working with soluble support materials, it is important to follow the recommended printing parameters and post-processing to ensure maximum efficiency and quality of the final product.
